Plain of Six Glaciers is one of the most spectacular trails around Lake Louise (that are relatively easily accessible, that is). It starts pretty much right at the Chateau and follows the lake shore at first. It starts to climb soon after the far end of the Lake, going through some fairly densely forested areas. Do not worry about bears in the Summer though as there will be lots of people around most likely as it is a very popular trail.
Allow a few hours to get to the end of the trail and back to the Chateau. Do not forger to visit the Tea House which is about 2/3rds of the way up. There is also an option to take another trail to Lake Agnes on the way back and visit the second tea house there.

Parks Canada will have some up to date info about the trail conditions here. Beware if you go for a hike when the snow is still around, the trail crosses avalanche terrain.
